Being my last three bluray lasers crapped out as well as my last two 650's I thought I'd go for some cheap colors. I bought a "UV" ultrafire with a UV LED rated at 395nm at 3 watts. (I think those numbers are right)
I just recieved my UV ultrafire yesterday. It came with a 3 watt UV led. I bought separately a 3.0 watt "spiderfire" led insert/module. The spiderfire lamp, although it seems less bright than the 3watt ultrafire has more fluorescing power, and the beam is nice and tight.
All the things that my bluray would fluoresce the LED will do just as well. And at over half the price. I will still be purchasing a new bluray laser from a member soon but you all should do yourselves a favor and check out these UV LED's.

i think this is the model you speak of:

3w is a lot of power. usually these things are driven at significantly less than the rated power due to heat issues though. you should look into making a "time fountain". you create a consistent drip of a uv reactive fluid, (yellow highlighter juice and water) and modulate uv leds to flash at the right interval. it makes it look like the drops are floating in air, or traveling in reverse. i made one some time ago, and it was lots of fun. i wish i could find the pictures. :(
