Bluray 100mw Diode Driver

Its been a very long time since Ive posted here. I saw a kid playing with a little laser and it brought back memories. I checked ebay and the prices of bluray diodes has dropped. So I couldn't resist. I bought my self two bluray 100mw diodes.

I tried to use one of my very old drivers which I made and I hooked it up to a 9v battery. The diode would blink for a split second and turn off. If I remove the power and connect it again, it responds the same way.

Anyone here have a diagram of a suitable blueray driver or diagram/parts list for a 50 - 100ma limited variable driver(pot adjustable but limited to 100ma)?

I tried some of the stickys for bluray mini builds but all the links are dead :(

I'm not sure what the problem here is. I just made another driver based of the old DDL circuit(lm317t, 100ohm pot, 10ohm resistor, cap, diode) and it runs my red 120mw's beautifuly from a 9v source.

When I connect my BR diode, it blinks for a split second and shuts off. Is it my power source? Is the driver not suitable for BR diodes? Current regulating is current regulating. I'm assuming I'm having voltage issues.

What kind of power source should I use? Ive got a 9v 1a DC wall outlet. Could I try that?

9v - 3.75 vdrop = 5.25v which should be more than enough room to run a BR.

double check on the driver that everythink is wired up accordingly especially on the lm317t chip

Would it be suitable grounds to say that my driver is fine because my red works flawlessly on it?

Honestly, the only thing I can think of is the lack of power... The driver operates any red diode flawlessly. This is the diode I am using.

New 100mW 405nm Blue-Violet blu-ray Laser Diode - eBay Other, Lighting Lasers, Industrial Supply MRO, Business Industrial. (end time 25-Mar-10 10:07:49 AEDST)

I have bridged the two poles as per the diagram and wired it up properly. Still, the laser blinks for a second and then nothing.

You should have bought from a seller that told where the diode was from... even though 8 dollars and 6 dollars shipping is really tempting you should spend a little bit more for a PHR 803T diode. They are around 10-15 dollars and they go up to 100 mw's after setting the current to around 120mA. If anything try using a Rkcstr or flex drive to see if its the diode not the driver.

ohh i thought you were using a different driver to the red.

I ordered a PHR from charliebruce here on the forums. I can make these drivers with my eyes closed. I built 3 more for 3 reds and all work fine. These f***ing blurays just dont want to work!
