There you go. A 100% hit rate of overspec from Daguin. That's good evidence if ever I read it!

^With respect, how do you know it's over spec?

Mine is steady at 46mW - though something of a fair point, just because those with an LPM have so far reported these as being overspec doesn't mean that it will stay that way. They aren't being sold as overspec, so I guess it's quite possible that once the current inventory sells out, the next batch may not perform as well.

anyone on here a ebay seller that sells 5mw overspec blue/violet laser?

I'm a little wary of ebay or companies that haven't specifcally been mentioned by users in this forum and posted as stickies in many of the threads. That's not to say ebay posters here and in general may not have very good and legitimate deals, I just don't know. Based on feedback from users in this forum, I decided on LED Shoppe for all my low price lasers and have never been disappointed. Service is great, they take credit cards and ship free to the US and customer service is responsive. They recently began selling blue-violet lasers as well. I went to ::: www.ledshoppe.com ::: The Greatest Online LED Shoppe Worldwide and picked up the 50mW blue violet pen laser for just $24.99 and it's great. Although I didn't formally spec-test it, it's a strong, blue beam that is definitely at or near the 50mW spec based on comparison videos I've seen of similiar rated blue lasers (keep in mind, it's not as bright as the 50 mW green laser, but that's true for all the blue-violet lasers relative to the green...).

Good luck

You do know that's the exact same laser as the $9 ebay one right? They're all made by the same chinese manufacturer. I bet you anything your's even has the same sticker on it too saying <5mw.

They can be had for a little over $5 each after shipping direct from the manufacturer if you want to buy them 100 at a time.

I've gotten about 6 of the ebay ones myself now as well and they've all been between 40 and 50mw.

I honestly think the diodes in them are capable of much more (the curve seems to be identical to PHR's but I haven't pushed one yet since I sold the 5 I didn't take apart) and the drivers are where the limitation is. I plan to dissect another when I get the next batch in and see.

qumefox: you may be right, but my laser has the sticker <50 mW (the site says 50 mW power, but also shows a pic of the <50 mW sticker). When I wrote to the distributor, they assured me that (like my other greenies purchased in the past), this laser should be very near or over the 50mW. Either way, they said that if I'm not happy, they'd be happy to fully credit back my account (another reason why I really like LED SHoppe....they even accept Amex which offers the buyer much better protection than Paypal, IMHO and based on past expereince).

Are you located in the US? If not that may be the reason it's labeled appropriately. I imagine the ones I get are all marked and sold as 5mw to sideskirt customs and FDA regulations.

I still bet they're the same pen. I really can't wait to get the next batch in so I can torture a diode in one.

I went ebaying for a 405nm. I was looking closely for the same host details and clip markings as the overspec 532's I have. I figured they probably stood the best chance of being over. When I checked what I found it was the same vendor as the one listed here. So, I got 2.
Sure enough, exact same markings down to the name stamped in the chrome pen clip.

I have no way to measure the power, but abt an hr or less before it was totally dark outside I could easily see both units beam with a nice dot on the trees at 400'. I was trying to find at what power level a 405nm beam is visible when I came across this thread.

Vaporizer, all the 405 pens that have 'laser pointer' stamped on the clip that i've got have tested between 40 and 50mW for me.

There are a bunch of different ebay sellers selling these pens around the same price roughly.. varies by a few dollars. Your saying none of them will ship to you?

The first batch I got came from a seller in the US. The ones I have on the way now are coming from china though, but they're a few bucks cheaper each.

@qumefox,
Yes sir, that's what they say. Same as my green "overs". Mine were from a US shipper and labeled <5mw. Less than $10ea and free shipping. They arrived in 4 days. Most pics are hard to read the clip wording, but they had the rows of 4 indents in the battery section visible.
With ebay, well....it may look like the pic and it may not. There is a slew of another 405nm. The end cap unscrews for the AAA batteries, not the middle and I couldn't see any indents. Not a clue on those.

Thanks for the power ratings and confirmation. :takeit: Might get 2 more!
