I noticed a display of them in my local Office depot..

Blu-ray Mice????????

Just because Microsoft adds the word "Blue" to the name doesn't automaticly mean these are really blu-ray devices....

What is the real story????

Are they real blu-ray devices...??

In a mouse...does it matter a darned???

From an Extreme Tech review.

"BlueTrack Technology combines the power of optical and the precision of laser to track across multiple surfaces, anywhere from marble kitchen-tops to granite to carpet; glass and mirrored surfaces need not apply, however. Given that 72% of all PCs sold are notebooks, Microsoft is marketing a mouse for the notebook warrior who can take his or her computer anywhere. Throw in the fact that both mice are wireless and each have a snap-in receiver and you have yourself an even stronger selling pitch. "
"Incoherent Blue Light
Laser mice use coherent light that's easily disrupted by dust and dirt, leading to poor tracking. The Explorer Mouse's incoherent blue light doesn't have the extreme sensitivity to dust, so the signal quality is maintained. This means your mouse will provide excellent performance even in a less than clean environment—you'll get great precision performance in a dusty workshop or outdoors just as you do on an ideal clean surface. "

From the looks of it, it is just a blue LED or something close. That combined with better optics gives it the "Best tracking system around." I don't think it is worth $99 but I have spent that on other thing so its up to you.(I would just go for a Logitech G9 for the price ::))
