I remember a link about "super cooling" a laser diode using something from a computer. I think the wavelength got down to about 640nm... Whats the limit for how cold the diode can get before it stops working? Is there any way to control the condensation?

Hey that's a good link about peltiers. Thanks for posting that! Makes me want to try stacking a couple.

But for this build, a single peltier seems to do fine for what my goal was. Just to maintain room temperature. But since it actually dropped in temperature after a 5 minute test at 186mA's, I was impressed with it!

could you possibly draw some schematics for the whole circuit please? I don't exactly understand... yould you connect everything in series and install a driver before each part (one before fans, one before peltier/s one before diode)?

Hi, the drivers for the Peltier and the LD are FlexDrives. One for each. Since I am using a 7.4 (8.4 at full charge) supply, I am simply using a 7805 voltage regulator to drop supply voltage to 5 volts.

This works good because the fan is also a 5 volt fan. If you were going to follow this build exactly, you would need 2 - 7805 regulators. One will run the peltier driver. And the other will run both the fan, as well as the LD driver.

I have condensed all of this into a tutorial that would be much easier to follow. Take a very careful read through it:

The tutorial is easy to follow, but you do have to have some basic building experience. Such as understanding how to connect and test FlexDrives using a proper load, understanding how to connect the 7805 regulators, etc... But the instructions come with these components!
