A bit of help here

I was wondering if this would work for building a blu ray laser, I blindly ordered it and I want to make sure it won't be a complete waste of money

It will work. However, the DT-0811 sled diode is less powerful than the PHR-803T AND it is much harder to get out of the heat sink.

You can get PHR's from the merchants herein for less.

It may be just that it has been a long time since I have seen a DT-0811 sled, but the picture doesn't look like one to me.

It could just be my memory. It could be that they posted an incorrect picture. It could be that really isn't a DT-0811 sled.
