What would be THE BEST diode to get at the moment.

From my searches, i assume its the 8x like this one from HTD
405nm BDR-S03 8x BluRay Laser Diode [BDR-S03] - $119.00 : High Tech DealZ, Simplifying the LASER Hobby!

Are there any better than this or other 8x alternatives??

EDIT: Sorry about all the posts but this stuff is just so interesting.
Plus I get bored as I am sitting in front of my pc studyin for cisco certifications haha

And btw I WILL be making a high end 405nm burner as soon as I finish my phr

Hold off on the S03 for a bit. We are still testing it. It looks like it may be more problematic than the ones I will list below.

However, the best that we have found available right now is the Pioneer BDR 203BKS, the LG 8X, and the Buffalo 8X.

Peace,
dave

I don't want the trouble of ripping a drive apart. Dun really trust myself for that haha

Where can i get pre-extracted diodes for those???
Preferably already installed in a module like the Aixiz

Its no fun to build a laser that is already halfway built in the first place!

But ask darkarmyofone to do it.

So ripping apart a drive is the only option at the moment for an 8x ????

Yes, I haven't seen any 8x sleds for sale besides the failure S03 sleds.

Contact DarkArmyofOne and I'm sure he will do whatever you want for a fair price. This diode/drive is going to be $200 or more tho.

If you have any more questions try to keep it to one thread so you dont start pissing everyone off.:yh:

searching is also good practice before asking.

Oh damn you're rite. 200$+ for just the drive lol
Was expecting just over 100$.
Then maybe I'll get a good 6x instead.
Hopefully blueray drives will get cheaper over time.

What are good (well tested, high output) 6x diodes

I think that GGW-H20L is the best 6X bluray diode..
(not from experience! from reading here in the forum!)

Ohh, didn't realize Scopeguy is Glenn lol
Ya it seems like a good price.
I checked it out, 62$ with shipping to canada with the LPF15 coupon.

I'l def order one after my phr build.

Glenn, can ya pull out the diode for me? I really don't want to mess it up.
Dunno about you guys but that's a lotta $$ for me to spend on a laser diode lol.

EDIT: the bdr-203?? I thought it had the 8x diodes not 6x.
Maybe it has both? lol
