A normal efficiency GGW-H2OL will run 180-200mW @ 200mA. Some run a little higher, and most run lower. The one I bought ran 157mW @ 200mA. So if the O-Like diode is WEAKER than a GGW, why would think you could get 200mW? You can use all the cooling in the world, if you push that diode to those settings it isn't going to last. Its better to save a little more money and get a GGW-H2OL, than to waste your money and time just to have the diode blow in 10 minutes.

NP. IgorT has tons of info on GGWs if you wade through the insane pile of info he writes.

back to the main topic:
are those GGW for real?? they state 4x in the website...and they are cheaper than the AW...
at least the AW pic looks exactly like the sled...can anyone confirm/negate if the GGW is for real (and is that price cheap...looks like so for me)

From the page about the sled

GGW-H10L 4x BluRay Laser Diode SLED,this sled is from LG 4x Blu-Ray Burner GGW-H10L

This Sled contains the famous 4x BluRay Laser Diode

It is a 4X diode NOT a 6X diode

GGW-H2OL are 6X...

Unfortunately, it isn't going to be this easy. They are totally screwing with the model numbers. I don't know if they are intentionally trying to confuse the buyer into purchasing older stock or they are just confused.

In any event, if you are dealing with "sleds" (not drives) then we should still be able to tell the difference. Members who do not know the differences will have to post pictures of the sled (front and back) for us to tell.

At this point in the hobby, the model numbers of these "older" drives really doesn't mean anything to us. We are getting the surplus, damaged, and prototype sleds.

The problem arises when NooBs find a "deal" on the net, using these "new" model numbers, and get their giblets in a quiver.

Peace,
dave

Yeah, I went to PSXBOY a month ago and saw their prices... I figured I'd stick with HighTechDealz and Modwerx for laser diodes and parts.

oh! sorry for the misunderstanding...as i went to that thread where it had "all" br laser diodes, and i only saw the GGW-H20L, i didnt notice the number was different in the PSX site. i saw GGW-H(number)L and thought for it to be the H20L...
But i didnt saw any reviews on the GGW-H10L...goin to go to the search button now to find out^^

thanks for the answer

I have a GGW set to 180mA - Does that mean I'm getting roughly 180mW ??

No. With the aiXiz acrylic lens (the stock lens in an aiXiz module), you should be getting about 165mW out of 180mA with a 6X. If you get a 405-G-1 lens the output would go up to ~195mW.

Awesome, cheers Dave.

So I'm assuming 200mA would put me at 180mA ish. ;]

Awesome.

Awesome.

180mW-190mW depending on the individual diode's efficiency and assuming the aiXiz acrylic lens.

Peace,
dave
