i got a190ma driver from rkcstr and hooked it to a 803 diode powered it with 2xcr123 batts and it works but measured out on my meter 30mw why is it so low in mw ? when i use a 100ma driver and gets close to 100mw ? just woundering why its so low with a 190ma driver

Does it look bright? The batteries in the meter could be dead or the diode could be dead too. Also make sure you got sent the right diode.

Maybe Rkcstr will confirm but isn't the voltage a bit low for this LD? 2 X cr123 = 6v
I understand that these LD's draw around 5v you need 2.25 for the driver = 7.25

I don't know the workings of this drive but you may find that you get away with less volts on the lower powered one but it could be that the 190ma drive needs more of an overhead voltage to regulate.

I thought you got 125mW out of the 100mA driver?

At this current, the diode needs even more voltage. At these levels the diode is drawing 6V on its own. Using the Rkcstr driver, you would need 9V to get this to lase effectively (and have any appreciable time on the batteries).

Your "other " laser? :-/

Which laser gets 125mW out of 100mA then?

You were able to sell a 125mW hand held laser on eBay!?! Please share the wording you used in your auction. I would LOVE to find a way around the safety restrictions eBay has on high powerd hand held lasers.

Peace,
dave

Can you post a link for us. I will protect your intellectual property as best I can. It would seem to me that this would only work a very few times. I know that I have had auctions "canceled" AFTER the auction is closed. That way they have a record of the canceled auctions in case they want to take further action.

Peace,
dave

You don't have a link to your own auction?

Mpmitch does post here. However, he is in the UK. EBay.UK has different rules. He can list higher powered hand held lasers on eBay.

Just tell me your eBay name. I'll search it up myself.

don't do it lol ebay is getting really bad, i listed like 4 different lasers and all got took'n down. i tried different wording like email me for output power, one i put nothing just email me lol, but if it was up to me post it on here or u can try ebay if its under 5mw :)
