Slipstream;

High Numeric Aperture (NA) lenses are required to capture the light from a laser diode before it spreads out.

Anti-Reflective (AR) coatings keep the light from reflecting back from the surface of the lens.

Aspherical lens design does a better job of focusing the beam (collimation).

These qualities are what increases the power transmission and beam quality of the lens.

They also increase the cost of the lens.

The good thing is that they will add power thru many diode upgrades.

Has anyone ever tested these diodes for 100% duty cycle to sit in a projector.
I am wondering how much current they can take this way and what the output will be.

Looks like i am going to by an 2x 8x owner soon :)

Not sure if anyone's tried to test them for 100% duty.

I would imagine you would need TEC for that...

Also, if you are going to be working toward 100% duty cycle in something like a scanner, you are going to want to lower the current significantly. The settings and tests we have done here are shooting for a consistent 300 hours of "on" time.

That's a lot when used as a "pointer", but nothing when used as a scanner

Hi.

I am currently running two phrs in my projector, each of them @109mA. Thus the projector is not lasing permanently with all lasers on plus it is analogue modulated i hope lowering the current buy something around 50mA will do the job for at least 600 hours lifetime.

The whole thinking behind buying 8x is simple. I wasted quite some $$ in led-ing phrs + time to harvest diodes and mounting them + my holy nervs being teared in pieces killing my 6x (new style ggw as i figured after not lasing anymore @180mA ~163,5mW).

Buying an 8x and driving it at a "smooth" current will be more efficient as what i used to do before. In $ it will roughly be the same if i would have bought the 8x straight away.

I absolutely agree. One of the reasons that I have not built my White Fusion kits (besides inertia) is waiting until I could squeeze a couple of "extra" 8X's out of my hobby budget ;) I will be staying with the 6X output level but using an 8X so I don't have to re-build it as often

Peace,

"All 8x Owners" datasheet updated, on a Senior Forum Member request, with the removal of the Darkarmyofone BDR-S03 laser, found misleading.

To all Forum friends and Members: as my daughter + grand daughter have reached us coming from California, the following to inform that I'll be absent from the 21 till to the 30 of June. So pls be patient for the improvement of the datasheets, I'll check and apply all news at my return. Happy holidays to all of you that have planned them in this period! :yh:
