803t vs, 6X

I thought that we had established that the diodes in the 6X and the diodes in the PHR-803t sleds had the identical Japanese "barcode" (the spotty brand) on the back. If so, this would establish that they were from the same manufacturer and the same "model". However, in discussion with IgorT, it is NOT clear that this comparison has been done.

Has anyone done a comparison of these "barcodes"? If not, is there anyone in the group that has both a 6X and a PHR-803t AND the ability to magnify the barcodes for comparison?

all i know is i've been running my 803-t for 5-10 minutes at a time at 86 ma with no problems yet to speak of just ordered 2 more sleds from geek and a couple more rkcstr drivers going to try 100 ma this time

There's a thread discusing this already.No pictures of the codes yet, but from the performances of the 2 diodes they apear to not be the same.

They're not ordinary barcodes, they're some sort of wierd square thingy(well at least to me it's wierd)

the barcodes are a nokia n series thing thing, if you have a nokia phone with a camera, search for a barcode reader program and you can read them (it takes aaages to capture sometimes). http://mobilecodes.nokia.com/scan.htm
I've once found a site that could generate these barcodes.
I've looked at the 803t barcode on the sled with my phones barcode reader, and it says the diode model number. this tells me the barcodes tells the model number.

unfortunately there are dozens upon dozens of 2d barcode formats, and there's nothing to stop whoever manufactures this diode from using their own proprietary format for barcodes... so we'll probably never decode the actual model number from the barcode (if that's even what it contains), but the good news is we don't have to... we just need someone to take a closeup pic of the back of a 6x diode.. we should be able to compare it to the pics in this thread pretty easily to see if they're the same diode.

Its a QR code, they are common in japan and you can find conversion software online for them or for phones as nvmextc mentioned. Often they are used this way as real world hyperlinks, you take a picture with your phone camera and it automaticly takes you to a website.

well for the price of 250.00$ for the 6x 0r
42.00$ for the 803its an easy choice for me i can get 6 803's for the price of 1 6x the 803 may be a lower quility 6x but for the price i wont complain

Thanks Monk, it took me a bit of effort to find a decoder capable of micro qr but I got it

I suspect it may even be unique between diodes of the same type, it would be good to see the codes from other diodes to check.

Unfortuneately my 6x has a weird 'blob' over the barcode, so one can only see a part of it. That and I dont have a camera competent enough to get a good picture.

My camera is a Sony CyberShot p72 3.2mp.

I placed a 10x loupe in front of the camera lens, credit goes to Chimo.

I just tested my latest blowout, I had the 803t running nicely at 178.7ma! Although I dont know if the output was correct, as my lasercheck was only reading just under 100mW. The diode seemed to be a bit angry and produced a good ammount of heat. I ran it for approx. 5 min's and the output stayed stable. I used it for a couple of hours like this, but then it failed running from cold for 5min straight :'(

I think Milos determined that the Lasercheck under reports the power output of these 405nm lasers.
