Hey Guys here is my promised next build ;)
My 500mW 405nm Laser from Lazerer died 2 Weeks ago and I couldn't sustain a life without that beautiful wavelength and I need an UV laser to kill Vampires, what we all do from time to time :p
I wanted a relatively small and light host with good carrying capabilities but also a big heatsink for long duty cycles.
I came up with a design pretty similar to my previous skeleton host but with a bigger heatsink for 1W+ Diodes.
As soon as the design was finished I got my lathe spinning and this came out :)

The Host is small and fits perfect in one Hand for an tactical grip ;)

I used a Microboost set at ~550mA and a 405-G2 Lens should give me around 800mW output.
I'm running this build with a single 16340 the current draw at the tailcap is around 1,2A which equals run times around 27 minutes -.-

The Beam is visible even with my camera flash :)

The Camera from my Galaxy Note 2 picks the beam way more blueish and little brighter up as it looks in real ...

Thumbs up for my match graveyard
With this much single mode power the beam cuts clean trough the matches within seconds!! Better then with my 2,5W 445nm :)

Had a lot of fun with fluorescence of this wavelength :D

With a green lighter...

beautiful Beam shot without any tricks like fog or longer exposure shots.

I'm feeling like in the middle of Star Wars

Now to the interest part :) the duty cycle with this heatsink is ridiculously long after 5 minutes the heatsink is still cold after 10 minutes warm not hot ;)
exactly what I wanted :)
Unfortunately my lpm hasn't arrived yet :( I'll update long lpm runs as soon as it arrives !

I made a video for you guys as well it took a while for the match to be cut in half didn't catch the focus point well with my glasses on -.-

Hope you enjoyed the Review and as always
Best Regards from Germany

Unusual host, looks like a big heatsink. I love your idea of the new host !
Good job. :)

Thanks ;)
I always try to orient my design on finned cpu heatsinks such designs have more benefits then a massive solid one ...
I actually wanted to make this host/heatsink of pure Copper :D
But Copper is expensive like hell :p

You need to start turning hosts to sell here! I would buy a copple.

I am looking forward for the copper heatsink for the Dominator host. That would be a beast !

Make a feeler for a copper version of this host ;)

Lazeerer did a built for a friend of mine in a similar host, but the grooves weren´t as deep as these are in your custom built.

How much would it be to get this done with copper? I might be able to help you to find a cheaper source ;)

This is an awesome laser! And it packs quite a punch too it seems. Hows the divergence with the G lens? It being a single mode diode, I would hope its better than the 445nm lasers seem to be.

+1 for you :gj:

I like the host you are using...It is the best way to
increase surface area for heat dissipation when you
only have a small surface to start with... :gj:

Thank you for the good respond always good to hear that ;)

And I love your shop Jordan keep up the good work ;)

I actually do ;) I have a few in production for members here already :)

Yes Blord the copper heatsink will be awesome :)

The divergence is awesome single mode of course ;) A lot better then all the 445 multimodes but it seems to me it's a little bit worse with the g2 lens then with my glass lens ...

The dot from ~15 feet

from left to right single mode 405nm, single mode 660nm, multimode 638nm
all from ~12 feet

Yes exactly you know what you're talking I like that ;)

Is this a build using the 12X S06J diode?

Yes it's the S06J 12x

Sorry to necro but what was the thing you burnt late in the video? The one throwing sparks?

That's quite high current he's running. I just got one at 450ma on the way. I'm wondering if I should have went higher. Hmmm

I think I'll stick with dtr recommendations for longevity though.
