Actually the LM317 can handle up to 1.5A but that's the max and would have to heatsinked. There are other LM series ICs that go to 3A and 5A (LM338 and LM350)

:banghead: I knew that too. Work has been kicking my ass lately.

Chefla-

Thanks for the 1805 info. That's what I thought would be the case after reading the data sheet again. I'll be sure to include that in my notes.

Here are the manufacturer specs. I realise these can be completely wrong but,

Wavelength: 445nm
Output Power: 1000mW
Voltage: 3.7-4.5V DC
Threshold current: 200mA
Operating current max: 1400mA
Operating temperature max: 55 °C
Life time: >20000 h
Package: TO18 5.6mm

So a 4.5v input at around 300mA (with cells) should do the trick? Can i have a link to a "boost" driver. Is this like a flex driver?

The microboost driver will work with a 445nm LD but the flexdrive is a better option IMO. Im on my phone right now so its difficult to post link but flaminpyro and dtr are both selling flexdrives.

This might be a bit off-topic, but shouldn't this be in the 445nm lasers sections instead of the 405nm section?
