I have a mini brass laser module that can house a 5.6mm diode and has a 650nm in it, can I use a 405nm 5.6mm diode in it's place? Will the 405nm focus to infinity in this lens set up for a 650nm? Secondly can the 405nm 6x diode be powered by 2 AA batteries instead of a 9volt?

Yes, memebers here like myself regularly use Aixiz modules to build are lasers, they come with red diodes but can be easily swapped for high powered red or violet diodes. So long as the lens isn't AR coated for red, it will have no problem with the violet diode.

Yes, there are drivers available here that are buck/boost drivers that allow you to do so. The driver will boost the voltage to what is required by the diode while still maintaining regulation of the current. Its called a FlexDrive

EDIT: My avatar is a good example of this, the middle laser is a violet diode powered off of 2AA's in a Maglite

Keep in mind that all you can swap is the diode. You cannot use the "driver" that powered the 650nm diode.

Peace,
