Can a 405nm 300mw laser -
-pop balloons
- start a match
-cut electrical tape
-burn plastic
-etch wood
-can you see the beam at night
-Can you see the beam during the day
Is 125USD a good price for one?
Thanks in advance. If it fits these criteria - I might buy one! All answers appreciated

Yes to all except being able to see the beam during the day.

Of course proper focus makes all the difference when it comes to burning.

I've lit a white tipped match from across the room with a 300mW 405nm.

If you're gonna burn, you NEED good safety goggles such as these:http://www.survivallaser.com/Eagle_...ver_Laser_Safety_Goggles/p556088_3346945.aspx
You don't want to go cheap when it comes to eye safety.

Good keyboard helps;)

I usually type at roughly the same speed that I talk, so the speed does vary quite a bit.

O-like is typically close to spec, their reputation is somewhat better than rayfoss.

The 400mW 405nm laser... I got one, and it did a little over 300mW. This laser is pretty hard to mess up, so I doubt you'd get a very underspec model if you order through them.

out in the woods cause i'm a boy scout leader and were doinging a 7 day camp trip

as far as the o-like 405nm 400mW
mine peaked at 347 with the waterproof lens still in
but if you need a little more power ,,change the 445ar lens out to a 405-g-1 lens
after i changed mine ,,my o-like 405nm peaks at 437mW and thats with the waterproof lens

JayRob sells the 405-g-1 lens ,,along with a ton of cool stuff,,he ships fast and his parts are really well made

Personally I have a 405nm that peaks at ~830mW(burns white ceiling when focused to infinity:eg:) but yeah, g-1 would have definitely boosted my laser up to spec. I just didn't use it much so I sold it to another member.
