I would be fascinated to know how you got 405nm laser diode out of a DVD drive laser sled, that doesn't contain one.

:pop:

That's NOT the laser sled you linked to in your first post...

Thanks for this. I was about to start a search on the boards looking for the wavelength of an HD DVD diode. I have a few HD DVD players and when they crap out I now have a project.

Nice looking build man! Side-clicky hosts are the best :) I think you might be the only user I've seen from Slovakia

THX boys!!! :) techhood is very good sheller! ;) ryanr256 good luck for HD-DVD lasers.

I bought some things from techhood too.
In my opinion, he should have an account on LPF. He is a great seller, and is my source of some laser parts now... ;)

I bought my first violet from O-like though (phr-803T).
Can you answer a couple questions, Kalmito? ;)
You measured the power out or you guessed it? Running at what current? How hot it does get WITHOUT the heatsink?

:)

I dont make power test, because i dont have Laser power meter.
I've read that the diode (PHR-803T) performance is 100 - 120 mW.
Temperature is cca maximum 40 celsius, not a lot.
This diode is not powerful, but burn  :yh:
future, I want to make more powerful laser BluRay 12x S06J http://www.ebay.com/itm/405nm-600mW-Violet-Laser-Diode-12x-Blu-Ray-/261170113826?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3ccef3ad22
I help in any way!

Sorry for bad english!

Thanks for the info. No problem about the english, its fine ;)
Do you know what current you set the driver? It should give you some ballpark of power output.

I'm not 100% interpreted the question, but
My driver set it up: laser is switched on and set focus point, with multimeter(avomet) i set the mA to maximum than what is possible and i burrned something black, and when you smoke, you are good. Then lufballon test, tape test...

Ok, just beware that this driver, when going hot (>40ºc) the current goes UP. Your laser may go stronger and stronger and eventually burn out or have his life expectancy reduced.

I set mine to 115mA by the way, and after a long operation (no heatsink, concealed) it measured around 128mA.

Thanks for the info again.
