Lower powered violet lasers are MUCH BETTER for flourescing stuff. My "working" violet for fluoresence is 11mW. Yes, I also have a >500mW violet (and a few others). Which one do you think gets used more the 11mW or the >500mW?

Also, you don't need 500mW to burn stuff. This link is to a video of one of my 35mW (lecture pointer) violet modules

35mw lighted a match???... wow. it should be VERY WELL focused.... buyi thought that to burn.. there should be more than 50mw.. starting from 70mw about

Most people do not actually get their violet lasers focused well. The dot is tiny when focused correctly. Without good goggles, the "blaze" from the dot prevents one from seeing it well enought to get it to its smallest. Then with the very small dot it is difficult to hold the spot steadily in one position.
