Dave has one of the sleds from the same drive- lite-on drive. He will be posting test results when he gets some of these other sleds in, to test and compare with.

Has anyone brought one since 07-08-2010?
Still showing 9 in stock. Just wondering if perhaps they don't update the stock number very well.
Could 445 have drawn people away from 405 that much?

I ordered one on the 15th of July, it was posted on the 20th of July, but I have not received it yet. :scowl:

I have a pocket mini kit, 405-g1 lens and microboost set at 418 mA waiting for it... :D

Alas, I do not have a power meter.

I purchased one on the 22nd, shipped out the 28th. The in stock numbers on the page never changed.

Thats a marketing trick. Pretend its a limited supply, and people jump all over it. They do that crap on HSN all the time. Then if no one buys any, they will 'pretend' to sell a few to get people to believe the deal is true.

I used to work for HSN when I lived in Florida.

Btw here are some spec I got from an ebay listing...

SF-BW512L (working specs below)

1. A 12X burner 405nm 300-400mW Laser diode inside.
Wavelength:405nm
Power Output: CW 300-400mW (Tolerance is based on the ability of your driver)
Working Current: I<400mA
Working Voltage:DC=3.0V-5.5V
Sealed Size: TO18(5.6mm)

2.A 660nm 250mw-300mw Laser diode insde.
Wavelength:658-660nm
Power Output CW 250-300mW(Tolerance is based on the ability of your driver)
Working Current: I<380mA
Sealed Size: TO18(5.6mm)

Just ordered one. One thing I am confused on. I thought these were Lite On 12X diodes sled SF-BW512L but the order page shows Sanyo 12X diode sled iHBH112.

EDIT It looks like when I google iHBH112 it says it is a Lite On 12X sled. The Sanyo DVD part just threw me off.:confused:

Anyway it looks like I will have a few weeks to wait given my last purchase from Rayfoss and the time it took Autist to get his.

Hi, sorry for the delay, but have suffered hard drive failure, so I got this one out of a broken laptop (I cannot yet quite get the partioning correct), and also my wife is at home at the moment so hobbies take a lower priority than other things she wants done around the house...

Right, finished the build, fantastic colour, easily visible unfocused dot in broad daylight outside at 40 feet.
Burns fingers adjusting the focus and eats rechargeable CR123A batteries. Run it for around 15 minutes and got through two protected lithium rechargeables.

The bad news :cryyy: the lens I was using was a LarryDFW Blu-Ray lens, but the lens had not been glued 'square' and shot the beam off to one side. To adjust for this, I rotated the Aixiz module in the heat sink to change the angle of projection. The grub screw tension can alter the beam direction.

Somehow, I broke one of the pins off the back of the diode :yabbmad: :yabbmad: :yabbmad: :cryyy: :cryyy:

I have tried to solder a solid core copper wire directly, but as yet it has not worked.


I now intend to use 2 part epoxy on every build to protect the diode pins from being deformed / stressed / breaking upon (re) assembly.

Sorry for this Dave... I know it sounds cheap, but I've done this before
and I solved that problem and stumbled upon a nice way to transfer heat also.

I use MIGHTY PUTTY. I use a pinch of mighty putty, form it thru the pins and let it set. Then I use a razor knife/ hobby knife to square it up
then I use one wrap around of electrical tape.

Wallah, this makes for a nice heatsink to the Axis mod and very hardy
driver to diode bridge. It is non-electrical conductive also.

I will post a pic when I can. If you do this do not take it past the pot.
For obvious reasons.
