...writing "DATE (D/M/Y)" on top of the column was clear for all the readers...
Lol... I remember when I moved (back to) Europe, having to get used to the date format... now when I see the U.S. format I get confused, :p

Officially though it is D.M.Y in the EU* and M/D/Y in the U.S.
*Except for maybe the Italians... right, Franco? ;p Ok so some use "." and some use "/" to separate the date units.

Could be worse, though... in Austria they swap the comma & period in numbers...
So a McD's cheeseburger will cost you 1,99 while an Audi A6 will set you back around 60.000
Like I said...

I can guarantee you that Igor does do windows... but he broke at least one in the process and I can't imagine he risked it for his murder vicitms.

From the consumer point of view, I do appreciate a very clean dot (or rectangle, as the case may be for 405nm diodes) so... ;)

The reason I am asking is because I have observed what appeared to be diode degredation over the course of use with a couple of my personnal 8X lasers but when I cleaned the windows and lenses the output power shot back up to right about where it started at. If the windows/lenses are not being cleaned periodically throughout this testing process than it may be difficult to place blame for loss of power to diode degredation.

yobresal;

The primary reason for lens contamination is burning experiments
(I've done plenty with the Red Laser Tractor Beam).

The secondary reason for lens contamination is UV degradation of materials in the air.

Igor may get some secondary contamination, but it should be very minimal, depending on the location of his testing equipment.

The collimating lense may need some occasional attention, but he is the only one able to monitor and correct that.

Yeah, I am sure we don't need to worry about Igor burning things with the test diode. I think we do need to worry about the diode window as well as the collimating lens. I have gone through MANY (over 25) 8X, 10X, and 12X diodes and have seen what happens to the different lenses/windows with regular use. What appears to be diode degredation may or may not be. This is something that has to be considered before we can make conclusions as to how well the diode is surviving at a set current.

yobresal, you bring bring up a good point. I remember when you cleaned your diode, I remember seeing the huge jump in power that you got from it. Perhaps your technique needs some more practice and experimentation just to confirm that it is an affect that is measurable.

Yeah, that was astonishing to me at the time. I believe you are refering to the laser that was missing a window. That is a completely different story. It went from 100mW to 400mW. You know that 12X laser I bought from you Meatball? I had set it at 680mW while I was using it. It was my daily carry around laser for a while and the power steadily dropped to 600mW over time as I used it. I cleaned the lens and the window and the power jumped back up to 680mW on the nose. Thanks for the great deal by the way.

Ah, I thought you were referring to the diode that had a dirty faucet. My misunderstanding...

I think you've been getting your moneys worth out of it so far.. that's great! I don't know what I would do with 600mw of photons... Gah I'd probably hurt myself!

I actually ended up selling it recently. I built myself a lovely little Chrome pocket mini putting out a whopping 830mW. That one has taken place of yours.

I do think it means i can squeeze at least a little bit more out of this diode, so i'm starting another step at a higher power.
Igor, 10 days since your last post... :cryyy: Enquiring minds want to know... how you (& your murder victims) are doing :D

*make note to self: ask Avery about adding an "Earth to Igor..." smilie*

I don´t know but he should have some private problems
About 2 months ago I emailed with him a lot concerning a red and a 12x br-build for me. He finished the work on the red and was only waiting for the EZ-Focus for it. I shipped him a Ehgemus host for the br-build. Now, for more than 5 weeks I haven´t heard a single word from him. I emailed him several times, tried to contact him due LPF... nothing! I also asked him if he decided to cancel the br project, no reply.

Does anybody know what is going on in his life? Maybe someone is able to PM me in this case. I saved a lot of money for these professional IgorT builds, I totally respect his knowledge and work on lasers but I don´t really know what to do now.

Hope dies last :)

I offer the Chrome Pocket Mini kits too... :D

How does it look you ask?

Not sure but I believe they were the smaller of the sizes offered. It is better for them to fit on snuggly then loose that way they do not slide off as easily.
