Here's my 1.2 watt 405nm single mode laser custom built by Alien Laser with a 1a driver :) I just learned too that he blew three of these diodes before this laser was made successfully so I highly appreciate him letting it go for me! This sucker has showed me the amazement of a high power single mode diode! The beam and dot are just so crisp and it doesn't even loose burning power til after 100 feet. He even took a picture for me showing that it burned significantly further than a 7 watt 445nm multimode diode laser :) quality is great, 90 second duty cycle, battery life rocks even with an ultra crap cell, runs on one 18650 cell with an X-driver, and as always is beyond a pleasure dealing with a member on here! Thanks again so much Alien Laser!!!

show us the burning video against the 7watts..

It was only a picture of the burn marks, he sent it in an eBay message, and my windows phone does not let me save eBay pictures :( I have that five watt 470nm though! Maybe I can do a video with that; still would be impressive in my opinion! :D

Well, that's the most powerful 16x I've ever seen; very nice!
I've never seen one of those live at anything much past 650mA, I hope you get some life from this beast.
Personally, with that small host, I'd probably stay with a <60 seconds duty cycle, but then I would never have thought to try to run that baby at 1A either. :D

Oh I definitely don't run it much longer than thirty seconds :) every now and then when the awe of a 1+ watt 405nm beam has got me mesmerized, I may run it a tad longer, but I've never even felt the host get warm yet. Thank you for the kind words, also!! It was funny, I had actually been watching the laser on eBay, and then my buddy in Oregon told me about the brand new [at the time] 16x single mode 1 watt diodes. Then I realized that's exactly what Alien Laser had posted that I was watching! I quickly posted my offer and next thing I knew I had an incredible violet laser in my hands :)

Correction; the driver is set at .82A. I always say 1A when talking about it with my friends cuz they already have trouble understanding laser lingo lolol I did think it was closer to 1A, but Alien Laser posted on a thread of mine the actual number :)

hahhahaha.....good one....you could have claim 10 Amp and they will believe it.....i have a blast when a colleague of mine claim their's arctic is the most powerful laser on earth....they even ask if they give their laser more battery the power would go up....i said then the laser would turn IR and they won't see it...they fell for it!!:eg: they asked are their laser dead....i said it turn IR and it invisible.....i added IR won't pop balloon and only cut through windows..they still believe me till this day...

Hi,
Killing three diode to make one host to achieve a 1W goal, not a great percentage. To play it safe keep it in the mid 900's that works very well. Have a great time with it and watch you duty cycle at that out put.

That is absolutely priceless XD a one watt arctic was my first high power laser. I just loved the host lol but still thinking back how I spent $300 on a 1 watt 445nm sucks -___- I'll have to put 2 18350 cells in it and check out that IR beam it creates!

Thank you! I was wrong about the driver actually. It's set at .82A so I'm hoping to get a long life out of this baby!! I've never seen such a visible 405nm beam. Actually makes a good star pointer :)

Hi L,
Those 16x 209;s should be ran at 650 to 660mA's to keep it the mid to upper 900's and long life.
You have to remember there only 3.8mm Dia. and get hot fast for a single mode diode even in a 12mm CU module.. Good luck with the build buddy hope you enjoy it.

Thank you! I've been collecting for a couple years, but in the month I've been on the forums I've learned more than from countless nights of reading about lasers! I highly appreciate every tip and fact that a member tells me :)
