Considering the inherent risks and hazards associated with the unregulated use of coherent light, I'm dismayed to stumble across such an unrepentant band of hooligans.

All I can say, is...

I am SO IN !!

As an aside, the "how to fit it" advice is entirely valid for every forum out these, not just LaserPointer.. Good to see some thought given to etiquette.

Been fun building up some CandlePower inspired Mega flashlights, but this is taking things to a whole other level.

Really AM surprised to see what's available. Looking forward to getting all edumacated up.

TIA to the forum, and the astounding level of knowledge compiled here.

Haha, remember to always be careful though. Lasers are fun, but only if the up most safety is practiced :)

You are right....There is an astounding compilation of practical information here at LPF!!
Now....With Great power....comes Great responsibility ! Each of our eye's contain very power collimation / biconvex type lenses. ! These lenses will focus any coherent source of light into a very, very fine pinpoint on the back of our retina's !! See here for description of the Crystalline lens...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lens_(anatomy)

It will only take a thousandth of a second for coherent laser light....coupled with this lens to blast a hole in your retina !! And really cause permanent damage !! Isn't nature a hoot !!
SOOoooo....wear protective goggles....and know the dangers you are dealing with !!

Welcome to the forum....be safe....open your wallet...and strap in for a wild ride !! Beam out

Hi dannyelectro

Welcome to the forum.
Great intro and you seem to have just the right amount of loose screwage to the old bean going on!! :) :D :D
Remember to get proper safety laser goggles for the wavelength of the laser you will use if it is over 5mW.
Enjoy, have fun and most importantly be safe.

Okay.. so if you twisted my arm, I'd have to admit..

I'm an optometrist. (pretty decent grip on eyes/lenses/retinas, etc.)

Truly glad to see the emphasis placed on safety here. You're absoLUTEly correct.. by the time you realize a retinal/macular burn is occuring, the damage is already done.

Little reminder, neurological tissue does NOT regenerate. Optic nerve/retina is an outgrown of the brain. Pure Neuro.

That being said, this place looks like SUCH fun!!
