You'll be more successful with a match for burning than a laser.

Ok I'll assume this is a serious thread. 405nm burns best per mW. Burning things depends on more then just power. I'd suggest using search functions the forum offers. Sigh..

405 has best burning however the laser diodes made for just diode pumping aren't too powerful atm. Your best bet is a 445 diode

Yes, I also recommend matches as well since
cigarette lighters tend to blow out in the wind.
If you need more firepower, you can always
step up to a propane torch, and those don't
suffer from the wind issues like matches and
cigarette lighters do.

I've also found that once you get a good fire
going, it also provides a much better light than
any laser. It also has the added benefit of
being able to keep you warm on cold nights.
Lasers are seriously lacking in this area.

Often in these cases it is best to shell out $600 for the laser that takes 6 weeks to get to you . That way, you know, you appreciate it more and become invested enough in the hobby so you'll want to spend some time going through the forums and learning more.

@ the OP

notice that all who posted in your misplaced thread have given up thier general location- so why not do the same.. most wont sell you much if you are not forthcoming-- you really should have read the Terms Of Service/Use- very few ever do. WL has a forum that may be better suited to you- you may not believe me but actually all here have been nicer than you may deserve... Lord helpds those that help themselves- try the search it free, fun, and fast.

The basic burning question you have asked has been already asked and answered 317 times--I counted.

Last truly original question was asked in 2012--

and.. most statistics are made up on the spot..at least 88.92 % are ..

we are not above hi-jacking and de-railing your thread to talk about Justin Bieber or anything that pops up== the Amish call it 'shunning' - you may be here but we cant see or hear you-

one sign that you are willing to get along here would be the combining of posts #6 & # 7
into..

PM sent with just a bit of the help you need.

*********************

moving four posts into my last one--

. just one post....
. as you can see one is enough-- you can add to..
if your post is the last one --- copy=edit -delete edit then paste then save
bazinga!
Hmm- guess this new member is not really serious about lasers- I am sure he saw my quad posts- and would have combined his double into one- If he wont do even that i see no reason to help- I will give him one more day to combine #s 6 & 7 - after that I am done helping and will combine my posts-
it was done to show him the 'DEAL'

The 'rule' on posting back-to back could have been no more than 5 posts in a row or 4 or 3 BUT the 'line in the sand' has been drawn at one post only with the known exceptions--& 'how it is' at other forums has no bearing IMHO--

if he wont meet us at least half-way i am done trying to help out.

I am horrified to think about him carrying a 'burning laser' on the bus to school.

hak

update he did reply to my PMs++just now

and may survive our 'initiation' after all.. no member can say they NEVER broke any of our 'rules'--hak
