I wish I would have read the "Welcome" thread when I first got here...

Anywho I have been a laser enthusiast for most of my life. When I was younger I even attempted to make my own laser pointers, using pieces from cheap ones I purchased on Amazon or Ebay (Which I was extremely unsuccessful at doing). A few days ago I started searching the net for a laser community and I landed here. I have since then searched through the forums and found the amount of info astonishing. This is essentially a gold mine of all the information I will/would ever need.

I'm going to be purchasing kits of less powerful lasers to slowly gain the knowledge and ability to make more powerful lasers, as well as expand upon their portability and methodology. I essentially see something that could be made better, then I go out my way to make it better (though sometimes it doesn't turn out succesful... we don't learn by giving up).

I hope to be an active member of this community.

I finally got some Eagle Pair ordered, I'm not going to experiment with my lasers till they arrive... Goggles are definitely not something to cheap out on. The stock ones you get from orders are far from good enough. My eyes are still sore from the ones I currently have.

Thanks for the link. That was actually one of the first threads I looked at. I always thought their lasers looked amazing... then I saw the breakdown and was not impressed. The only thing WL has going for it is the casing. I am planning on being very active in the forum, and I have been enjoying this abundance of information.

Thank you, that is an awesome thread. I will be using it quite a bit, especially when the summer comes around and I have more time to start some builds.

Welcome Zakkusus,

I am only new to this hobby - although I've always been interested (and owned a few very lower powered lasers). I've got two pretty cool lasers on order - waiting for them to arrive at the moment. Check out O-like - they sell equipment for builds as well, and Susie seems to be pretty good.

Here is my first "Time to decide what lasers I buy and who from" thread, and here is the "outcome of the sale including LPM" thread - I'm still waiting for products to land - then I'll be hopefully writing an extensive review.

Have fun and so far the forums here are very active and plenty of helpful souls :)

Flaminpyro,

I think I'm falling in love with your cat. Please change your avatar immediately.

Seriously - I just saved the image - Reverse Google Image Searched it - got a higher quality version - and set it as my FB DP.

Thanks for the links to the threads. The more I learn and know the better. O-like seems like a pretty sturdy brand (a lot of people on the forums like them). I will have to check them out when my next paycheck arrives. The only powerful laser I have is a 3W 445nm which after a burn test prompted me to purchase an Eagle Pair (my other laser goggles were way to weak :/ )

I will be interested to read your reviews on your lasers I did a review on the 3W 445nm by Rick Trent yesterday. I still need to get a few beam shots up though.

Thanks Flaminpyro, I have a new pair of Eagle Pair on there way. I have been reading all the safety stickies I can. Better to spend $$$ on glasses than on new eyes.
