Alright, I find optics very interesting, lasers being one of my favourite fields of it. So I've searched here for a beginners guide on lasers, I currently have a 5mW true green laser from DX and it isn't serving so well. I am aware of all the safety precautions and will make it my first on my list to cover. So I'm planning on spending around $50 for a complete set including goggles. What do you recommend I purchase? Building a laser for me would be out of the options as I do not have a soldering pencil even though I'm experienced with it.

Hey! Welcome! I'm sure Laserbee or someone will chime in with some helpful beginners threads!
As far as your query for a laser is... Try lazerer.com, they sell pretty well priced lasers and goggles. Not the highest quality, but definitely in your price range. Their site is down right now, but when its up, take a look :)
Don't try to pay as cheap as you can for goggles.

Cheap lasers break and can be replaced
Cheap goggles fail... and your eyes can NOT be replaced!

Alright guys, I'm buying a 200mW 650nm laser from Lazerer. Based upon a review here it actually outputs about 250-300. What type of eye wear should I purchase?

Dont expect it to be 250mW - 300mW only to have it on spec and be disappointed. It's luck of the draw.
Get some quality goggles that block 650nm. They'll be blue in appearance.

Any recommendation on goggles then? I'll be researching for them. Also I wanted to ask, is there any getting started guides?
