Hi guys!
I'll try my best to keep this somewhat simple. ( Yeah I know you're all reading this and going :wtf: this new guy is another crazy . . . Well I'm really not :yabbem:. )
So... I guess I'll dive right into this "intro".
I'm Guntar/Gunny which ever you prefer; I go by both. My brother and I share the same first name. I choose to go by my middle name Guntar, which everyone shortens to Gunny, to avoid confusion between him and I.
Anyhow... I'm 17 years old, yeah whoopee all you creepers that just went  have another thing comin' for you. OK OK I'm kidding, but really creepers... Just give up now.
My "professional life" is that of student at the moment, I am striving for a Ph.D. in Computer Science & Information Systems I have recently entered my Freshman year of college and am absolutely loving every moment of it . . . I think . I do have other academic interests besides computer science and the likes such as psychology, astronomy, and mechanical engineering.
My primary hobby is automotive restoration I have a couple 1970's Camaro's, and a 1978 Trans Am 6.0L that I've put hundreds of hours of work and and thousands in cash towards. Its a different hobby, I know its not lasers but I like working with my hands rather than my head all the time so it became very enjoyable. I'm more than willing to snap some pictures of my 78' that I have at home at the moment, unfortunately traveling off to college forced me to ship my 71 and Trans Am to my parents vacation home for storage since I hogged the entire garage while I was still in high school always messing with something or fixing another car for a friend. If you're into that kinda thing just let me know what type of item you would like me to place near or on the vehicle and I'll post the pictures I'm very proud of my cars and I'm not embarrassed to say I'm a showoff when it comes to them, perhaps the roaring engines weren't enough on the road .
Lasers are not my only interest however they are my most recent discovered interest. My personal interests in lasers have to do with the visible light spectrum and the ability to project visible light a certain distance in the form of a concentrated beam without particle separation occurring too badly and the light spreading out and causing a ... laser flashlight? Though I have seen those they do not exactly interest me as much as the straight beam into the sky. Something about being able to make a beam of colored light come from a device reasonably small has greatly captured my attention. My attention to lasers was actually pointed out by an astronomy professor of mine who illustrated their potentials with calculating accurate distances using pulse and wavelength/amplitude technology from a high powered laser. Oh yeah and I'm definitely still a kid so being able to pop a balloon or light a match using a beam of light sounds pretty much like a kids dream come true.
Here comes the terrible part where I admit to snooping around the forums for a long time before I actually made an account and decided to get involved with the community here. Yeah I did however, naturally I couldn't let you guys have all the fun with the lasers so I did a few things to get myself started after reading lots of stuff. I purchased a $2 <.05 mW laser simply for the nifty pen housing and I purchased a true metered 7 mW diode for $8 to replace the weak <.5 mW I currently had and performed the swap after watching a couple YouTube videos to figure out how exactly to perform the swap. Well turns out that I really really like my 7 mW pen. So I snooped around looking to see where or who a reputable seller might be and set my eyes on a 90-120 mW 532 nm Green laser from Lazerer - 532 nm 100 mW Focus-able Green Laser I ordered this only 2 days ago and cannot await its arrival. I also took it upon myself... more like nearly everyone's strong advise, and purchased some safety glasses to protect my "viewing orbs", "Seeing thingies", or my personal favorite "Looking balls".
Well I'll be honest this turned out to be a lot longer than I had really planned... Was only supposed to be a Hi... Not sure what happened there . If you guys have any questions or if you're curious to see pictures I'll try my best to respond quickly!
Happy lasing!
P.S. Hey Jerry! I already read the 39+ reasons not to buy from Wicked Lasers , and the FAQ too... So ... =/ Had to crash your party .
