I have been here 9 Months and I haven't introduced myself so here I go. Warning I hate language so my punctuation may not be that good.
I am 15 years old and I was born in London at home on the 2 of august 1998, when I was 5 my family moved to a town in ES5EX called Clacton-on-sea where I still live today.
I have always loved science and things that explode, when I was 10 I made some copper sulphate by electrolyses of concentrated sulphuric acid and copper(my dad trusted me a lot), and I always used to spend my money on chemicals and sodium metal.
One time when I was at school I made a huge potassium nitrate and sugar smoke bomb, and light it on the school playground, don't worry it doesn't explode it just smokes a lot and for a very long time, everyone in the school thought it was funny except the teachers, the head of the school sent a chemistry teacher to talk to me, and he said it was very dangerous what I did and it could have exploded, then I told him if I wanted to do that I would add diesel not sugar, at that point he shut up about it and let me go :D.
When I was in school me and my friend was very small we used to get bulled a lot, the school over seer said if the school gets one more bad report they would shut the school down, eventually the bulling got so bad that I had to call the police and I have been home schooled ever since, I think this made me very shy.
My hobby's are Lasers, electronics and sometimes chemistry (just made up a batch of Nitrogen Triiodide, hehehe). Anyway that's a bit about myself and I look forward to the future of lasers and the forums, I have ordered the parts for a 3w 445nm and 300mw 660nm so look out!

Your punctuation ain't half bad :p

Getting bullied sucks at the time, but eventually in retrospective it gives some useful skills and insights, if you know how to recognise and use them - and don't let it get the better of you. Talking from experience so I know where you're coming from.

You sound like my brother, he's also young yet a huge interest in chemistry and science. He also has a makeshift "lab" in the basement. We hope he won't explode the house in the air. :D

What's the parts for 300mW 660nm you ordered? How do you plan to drive a diode that high? Nothing short of single element G1 for red laser will get close to that...

Thanks.
The diode just came out of my laptop it looks like this one , im going to run it with a 350ma AMC driver, and a glass 3 element lens, for the host i will use this host, its nothing special and it will probably be more like 200-300mw.

At 350mA and 3 element lens, yeah it most likely will not be over 200mW, but it'll still be cool enough and powerful enough to do all the neat burning tricks.

Is that your first 660nm laser? If so, heads-up: don't be disappointed by the beam visibility. Reddies aren't really great sky-pointers, due to deep red hue and our inability to percieve it well. Personally, 405nm lasers are more noticeable than 660nm at night.

Dam I'm just going to call it 100mw until I get a LPM, and yes its my first 660nm unless you count the 1mw HeNe, I'm not to fussed about it because its mostly made from parts just lying around, and Thank you I just found the "Where to get laser components" link in your signature very helpful!

You're welcome, that's why it's there.

The fact that it links my own shop is totally unrelated

oh wow WF-501B & Cree Q5 heatsinks I have a few of them hosts laying around but no heatsinks, I know where I'm going for my next few builds might be a while though, I'm still waiting for the parts for my current builds. Haha I need to start paying more attention to things.

No problems man. Keep us updated on those builds, I want to see what that 3W 445nm will look like.

Opposed to 660nm, that one will probably flare up the sky.
