I signed up here a while ago, but have mostly been a lurker. College has started back up, though, which means it is time to procrastinate! Should be posting more.
A little about me:
I am the owner of the second largest game console modification forum on the internet, ModRetro (forums.modretro.com), we specialize in "portabilizing", which is the hobby of turning vintage (And occasionally modern) game consoles into handhelds units by cutting down the motherboard, hooking up a small LCD screen and battery pack, and building a custom case with controls to house it all.
My other hobbies include designing and building laser systems, high end audio amplifiers and headphone design, building, and modication, 3D display technology with a large emphasis on HMD (Head Mounted Display) systems, of which I have designed and built several, haptic feedback systems for virtual reality applications, LCD display and backlight modifications and upgrades, and cosmetic work on consumer electronics (Custom paint jobs, replacing proprietary dock connectors with standardized jacks, "SteamPunk" work, etc). I try to be a jack of all trades, master of few, hobby wise. I have also been getting into robotics recently, I am nearly done with a self designed control board with 4x 40amp motor drivers, gonna build a ROV (I live near the water, Long Beach CA, so it will actually be fun!).
I have been lurking here for nearly two years now, and only signed up a while back, and only now decided to start posting a bit. Great bunch of people here!
