My name is Setia from Surabaya, Indonesia. I've been a silent readers for quite a while. Although I own a laser engraving workshop here, I do learn a lot the technical aspect of laser from this forum :beer:

Thanks for liking my thread-- my part in this was a small one- it was the many kind members here that really did the big part-- I know all too well that Rob would do the same for me..

the story had a good ending as Rob is still in his house and his bank was FINALLY able to work with him..

post some pics from over there--show us also some of your work with lasers- we all like to see photos anytime.. +5

Yes, i read the whole thread, and it's heartwarming to see this kindheartedness these days, i sincerely happy to hear that things work out great for Rob.

Meh, my laser works are plain engravings and boring cuttings, i wanted to post some of my works, but then i saw the laser work pictures here, not to mention the awesome picture of someone taking picture of the sky with andromeda galaxy on it.. it makes my work pictures look kind of ... lame

i wish you guys don't mind if i ask you something that might slightly off topic here..

i need to modify/built a laser system, and i literally combed every threads that seems related (including the posting rules, etc) and i learned that this forum members extremely emphasized the safety of using laser, which i am completely agree since i do work with laser machine and learned that in the hard-ish way

that and with my not so proficient english, which might makes me sound like an elementary school student.. though i got a thick beard to disprove that, i don't think it would work in this case..

add those factors above, plus i'm a noob here, asking on how to modify/make 10+W IR laser, i can only imagine the lectures or even bashing i will receive.. which is kind of intimidating. so to speak

could you recommend me laser builder(s) who are familiar with those kind of laser, especially those who live in asia, or nearby, and it will be great if these person(s) are known to finish their projects/orders in timely manner, good reputation, etc. so i can consult with them directly.

i recognize this is noob (me) <-- probably ask a bit much so, i thank you guys in advance beforehand.

Hi Setia, welcome to LPF! See you've made some headway. I'd recommend you Ryansoh3 HERE for consultancy, if he's wiling, as I believe he's in South Korea (non-purging half). But unless time zones are what you're after, any of our accomplished modders here would make good gurus too!

my intention is to purchase a laser system that meets my needs either by building a new one or modding/installing new part since i already have my laser machine but i'm not sure it is the right type of laser for the job, so i am looking for a consultation that will escalade into transaction.

the thing is, i've read and literally combed the b/t/s and companies review, found some of the modders or even companies i want to deal with, only to find it later that this person(s) did some inexcusable flaws in their way of doing business, such as going AWOL after receiving payments, massive under spec, etc.. and i don't mean to point my fingers in anyone, sorry.. i'm being paranoid for my own butt while threading very lightly here

what i'm trying to say is, i'm looking for someone with precision in mind, being precise in the knowledge, product, and work ethic, like constantly updating the customer, and finish the project in promised schedule.

Not sure we understand the type of 'laser system' you are asking about-do you have one now in need of repair? or looking to have one built? or taking one and upgrading it?? when i read 'laser system' i do not think of handheld lasers= more likely it means a lasershow projector and a way to contro it- like software or DMX--

I can steer you towards some good sources in China if you like.--

BTW is it correct to say in closing 'Namaste'??

and i apologize for the confusion that stems from my lack of understanding in laser terminology.

and though plenty of people here understand what namaste is, it's only common in some small part of the country, the more common word in closing is "salam", which is similar to "regards"
