I'm here in El Paso Texas on the border of one of the most violent cities in the world- Juarez Mexico. Involved with lasers a few years now and I think I found the right group. I have a rare orange yellow he-ne type plus a few portables. My he ne needs transformer repair. Looking for some help so I'll be searching this site. ThankZ

Welcome to the forum.
WOW! A yellow He-Ne, that is super rare. Fortunately the PSU is not, so good luck!

You can find one that puts out 15K volts and runs off mains(115vac) thus eliminating the need for a PS for the PS. look on ebay- a PS that is slightly higher volts and amps may work as well.IDK for sure. You may be able to build one too.--we want photos when you get it working again --hak

You might be able to use a neon sign transformer but you need to find a way to burn off the extra current, then you need a ballast too because these tubes only need really high voltage to start then they only need 2-3kV to stay running.

If you need more help send a PM to the username "cistercian" I talked to him a while back and he knows high voltage incredibly well, if you get lost I'm sure he can point you in the right direction.

Ok well I've tried it with a 1500v w/alden connects and it fires up but sounds static like. Still it's good news.

I'm pretty sure they always sound like that, my CO2 laser did when it worked. It was more of a hissing sound than static though.
