2W is a little less output a big monster host can do... Get at least 4W 445nm or 1W 532nm for that size. Note that it's VERY big. You should consider getting a medium sized host custom built if you would like to be compact and carry around.

Welcome Al, the PL-E PRO is a great choice! But I have to ask, what safety glasses do you have for this beast laser lol

Welcome Al. I can't speak for the laser you intend to purchase since I don't own one myself, but just getting your first visible beam laser is quite an experience. I'm sure you will eventually enjoy building custom hosts if you have some machining experience (and access to a mill and lathe). It's a great time to be in the hobby with low prices on many options. Diodes are really taking off and making handhelds of all sorts a possibility.

Welcome to LPF Teslaflux, I'm sure you'll like it here. We won't hold being from the U.K. against you ....too much.

That J/L PLE-Pro is a great laser, and plenty powerful enough at 2W. Many that are new to the hobby start with much less power.
As noobphaser mentioned, the proper safety glasses/goggles are very important.

Have fun, be safe, and enjoy your stay here at LPF!

Dude what the hell? Have you even ever seen a 2W laser? 2W is plenty of power, especially for a first laser.

Here, this pic again. You make no sense.

like I said before, he is new and young. But that alone is no excuse for what he said especially being so new and giving ridiculous advice to another newcomer NOT COOL

We seem to have a couple of new, very young posters who are eager to share "advice" based on their beliefs and enthusiasm instead of actual knowledge.

Welcome teslaflux! Seems like you'll be a great addition to the community. As others have said, 5W is an extreme amount of power, I highly do not recommend that as a first laser, 2W is plenty. PL-E pros are awesome lasers, you should totally check out some reviews from here with the white search bar at the bottom of the page. Maybe even my own, eh? *coughcoughlinkisinmysignaturecough*. Heh sorry, I hate those shameless plugs, but I just wanna provide some help :)
Anyways, welcome, have fun, and learn lots!

HEY Justin

Ill be getting the argon ones they sell at jet lasers ,although the they seem fairly expensive i value my eye sight ,going for two pairs incase a friend wants to check out the laser goodness.Good looking out !!!

I see you have a pl-e pro would you say the 445nm waveelength for 2 watts is a plesant choice / does wavelength affect power not sure if that a silly question or not but thought it was worth asking !!!!

feel free to add us up as a friend !!

Hey jeff

Thanks for the words of advice!i think 2watt is plenty power aswell from what ive been hearing,it was originally the arctic s3 that i was interested in, because when i was a youngster i saw for the first time and was enthralled by it haha ,due to its size looks and most likely drawn in by the advertising.Ive heard the artics components are not as good as the pl-e ,could this be said to be true?? ,though my understanding the build quality is rather good in terms of machining ergonomics???

Thanks for the reliteration of the goggles ,its good to see that being so new this is an issue that is pushed for newcomers helping to make this hobbie that bit safer ,its refreshing to see !!!!

Avoid posting multiple times, try to consolidate your post into one reply. You can use "multiquote" to quote three people (or more) at once. And don't worry about this, everyone does it when they just joined, but people really don't like it.
