Hey All!
By way of introduction: I am Chuck.
I am an avid Star Wars costumer and participate in many online forums.
When I am not playing Clonetrooper or Tusken Raider I work for the city.
A few years ago, I was put in charge of crow control
We see as many as 50,000 birds come to roost during the winter months.
crows, being super intelligent have figured out the effective range of my "harassment" devices which mostly consists of guns and rockets. I'm here looking for my own personal death ray. <----JOKE
I'm going to lurk about for a bit to get some information. I don't want to purchase anything until I completely understand what output I actually need for this and how far out the effective range is.

I currently have a 5mW green NCStar laser sight that I was using last season.

Avian vision goes beyond what we can see.
Birds even have some visual peaks in the
UVA range. Anything visible should be
effective with red being less so. Stay
right around 5mW to avoid blinding the
birds and any possible bystanders. As a
lot of the cheap Chinese lasers are
overspec, most of them should be avoided.
LPM testing would be preferable.

Welcome, I was in Afghanistan for awhile and we had this giant pine tree these birds would sit in over the side walk and crap on people walking by all day long, before I'd walk under that tree I'd flash it with a low power green laser and they would all take off in a real hurry, lasers will scatter them fast.
