I live in San Diego I have an interest in lasers (obviously or else i would not be on the forum right?), I have built 2 in highschool like 7 years ago and want to get into something more advanced. I have a machine shop at my availability and can turn products for cheap just pm me on what your looking for.

Currently trying to piece together a 300+ mw laser (burning laser).. Just trying to find parts on my limited project budget.

I have a history in Machining and Computer Repair and Hardware, I was in the Military and I am currently a Student. I am no stranger to the soldering iron and bread board.

Yes a machine shop, I can make and ship in less than 2 weeks.
I have been reading stickies, I am just trying to find a San diego support base as well for the over all DIY community.

Sup man and welcome. I'm pretty close... Temecula here. I lived and worked in Oceanside for years. I know there's a few other socal guys kicking around here somewhere. :beer:

What kind of laser you looking to build?

Cool, I am down in point loma.

Thats why I am here I just want to build a burning laser and then go on from there. Is there any shops in the area that I get hardware from? or a good source of dvd-burner diodes to get for cheap?

Not any local shops that I'm aware of. You might be able to buy some electronic components from Radio Shack for building a driver and stuff, but they're not what they used to be.


If you're going to be doing some machining and stuff, I'll probably be in need of a heat sink or two soon.

As far as cheap diodes go, I might be able to help you out if you want to work out a trade or something. It depends on how quickly you need them though.

Yeah, I have a webserver that just got free'd up thats not in use? I just need the specs for the heat sinks. and yes, we could work out a trade or something.

Hey newblazerdude, I'm also in San Diego. Clairemont, specifically. I can definitely think of some uses for a machine shop :)

I am in San Diego. Looking to do my first build. probally just get a survival laser kit.
