Hi, My online alias is Presentteck. I use it for most things I do anymore. My real name is Brad If anyone wanted to know.

I've just started getting into lasers, i've tinkered a bit in the past but now that bluerays are gettin cheaper everything is, it's approaching my price range to play with :)

I'm A DIY guy, I've always built crazy things, Lego's are a great catalyst... cutting pieces to make more complicated functions is even better!

Through my first 3 years of high school I built a Gasifier, a device used to make simple hydrocarbons from carbon based biomass through a process of rearranging fire to do what you want it to. There's a long history to it that I won't get into right now, but I can say it works in a similar manner to a cigarette. (without all the toxic side effects... except carbon monoxide, it makes lots of that)

Through that I impressed the man who Is now my boss, and friend in a way. over the summer I worked at All Power Labs gekgasifier.com and got paid to do what was my hobby *YEA!*

Other interest/hobbies include:
Stirling engines
high voltage (jacobs ladder, teslacoils, etc.)
making stupid things that people shouldn't be riding on into improv land sailers.
computers (home built my 6 core for under $600. great gaming comp)
playing guitar
And many more...

...and now lasers!
I've already played with >5mw for a long time, and got ahold of some overspec ones from amazon, same as what's in your ebay thread.

Those are so much fun i'm now on the lookout for something int the 200~250mW range. I found one I want... but cant get it shipped to USA. I'm looking for the $30 range and it'd kill me to go much higher at the moment, i had to stop working to go to college and dont have much of an income right now :p

this is what I found/want: Focusable 200mW 405nm Burns Match + Money Detector Blue-Violet/Royal Purple Laser Pen (2*CR2) - Free Shipping

Note: Just to save some time. i've been browsing these forums for a few weeks now, and am starting to understand how things are set up. I have read many of the beginners guides and READ THIS threads :)

my YouTube name is Presentteck, I have some neat things up there, but haven't posted a video in over a year now, the last one was one of my gasifier working.

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you have been looking around here for a while. When you get a more powerful laser, keep in mind the need for goggles. You will need them for close up burning, and anywhere or anytime there is a chance of accidental reflection of the beam.

Yes, goggles are going to be ordered as soon as i get another laser (so i get the right wavelength protection of course)

they're only second to the laser itself!
