Hey guys and gals. My name is Vince. I live in S.E. Oklahoma. I'm new to the hobby. I served in the U.S. Navy as an Electronics Technician many years ago and had a lot of experience with lasers. I have followed your forum for a few weeks now trying to get an idea of how far technology has advanced since I last played with electronics. I am interested in learning the craft of laser building, however, it will take me some time to get to that. I am truely impressed with many of the projects I have read on the boards. Hope to get to know many of you and perhaps we can do business in the near future. Nonetheless, I wish to learn as much as I can from each and every one of you. Safety is a great concern of mine and I am happy to hear you all mention it often.

Hello Vince, welcome to LPF. As a former electronics technician you should have little difficulty learning to build a laser. I know my electronics experience made it easy for me. It's very easy to buy off the shelf parts where the hard parts are already done for you, then as you learn more you can progress to something more DIY, you will just need to learn about the different parts and what works together and why, that is very easy for anyone with a good knowledge of electronics.
