OK, not exactly new. I've been lurking here for few months but yesterday registered, and this is my first post.
A little about me: I'm a 18 (almost 19) year old university student of
computer technology. My interest in this hobby started after reading an article about lasers (to be more specific - ruby lasers) in an old book. This was about 11 years ago. There was no way to obtain a ruby laser rod back then so my interest quickly diminished. Less than year ago, a friend of mine pointed me to the DX site as a cheap source for lasers. I remember somebody mentioning the LPF on a thread there so I'm here.
Thanks to this great forum I've learnt a lot and already have few lasers, some of them built by me, but still from factory made parts. I may get a lathe soon, in order to start machining my own builds.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello!

Welcome to LPF. Yes, you will definitely find a lathe extremely useful. Several of us here have lathes. Nice collection of lasers you've got going. You might also find a laser power meter handy. Perhaps a Laserbee I ...

Thank you all for the warm welcome! It's great to be here.
I forgot to mention that I'm not native English speaker so you may find my English somewhat bad.
Anyway I received an offer for a lathe from a liquidating factory. Only $350. Apart from the fact it uses 3-phase 380V mains, there is another big problem (literally) - it is about 5 meters long and weights 2 tons :wtf:. Too bad they are going to sell it for scrap. The search continues.
