Otley -- Halfway between Des Moines and Pella on HWY 163 --
I passed by there years ago when I lived in Des Moines. I was on my way to play at a Bluegrass festival SE of there.
OMG --- I have to ask after 40 years. Does the Otley telephone booth still exist on the highway?

Hi Hemlock_Mike I believe Otley is about 140 mi from Mason City, and 7 mi from Pella. As for your second question, I don’t think there is still a phone booth there, at least I've never heard of it, or seen it. It might have been taken out when they re did some of the HWY like 13 years ago

I'm trying to build a 650nm 300wm red laser. Originally, I had gotten all the parts to make one for Christmas, aixiz housing, glass lens up grade, rkcstr driver and a diode in an unused sled. Unfortunately, think I must have damaged something when I was harvesting the diode (It was my first time trying to harvested a diode and it was extremely messy):yabbem: Any way, when I powered it up it only glowed like an led. I tried numerous different adjustments, but eventually the diode didn't even light up. So I decided to try it again this time I’m ordering the same type of diode already press fitted in a housing. Also Coherent Light recommended that I buy 2 cr123 batteries, so I am ordering those as well. Everything should get here in a couple of days, and hopefully doesn’t take me to long to put together. Ill post some pictures when I get it put together:lasergun: BTW are we the only people from IOWA on the hole form?

That's a good starting project with that red. Safety first !!!
Be sure to check your drive current setting before you connect to the diode and be sure any filter caps are discharged.
As for Iowa --- I think it's you and me only :-(
