hi there, name is Ron. Sorry I didn't introduce myself yesterday... I've been reading all the newcomer threads before posting and I'm very impressed and happy to be here.

I'm not looking to build but I am interested in lasers and buying one soon. I've been reading a lot on this forum for about 2 weeks now and I have learned a lot about lasers and safety.

thank you for letting me in your house and I so much more reading so I'm going to quiet down now:D

Welcome and congrats on passing stage one-- your intro- well done. Happy to have you here- lots of great members up your way - Once your addiction grows you will feel a strong need from time to time in meeting with peeps in person that 'speak laser' and who will never ask you 'WHY'-

- If you are not careful you may also become addicted to lasershow projectors and laser meets(LEMs)-- Do take the time to check out all the links and advice you have gotten ( or will get) in this thread Jerry(Laserbee) has given you a bunch. Make LPF search and google your besty friends- Spend some time with Dr Sam at Sam's Laser FAQ_ he has amassed an incredible amt of data and info especially on gas lasers. To many of us Sam is our guru. You can trust advice from nearly all VETS here and some newcomers as well(but NOT all)

The BS&T section is where you look to buy or sell(or trade) before you try outside the forum. For you, the most important forums(after you read the rules and stickies) are 'Companies"(weed out those that should be avoided) ' Reviews' ( see what others found when buying new items) and .'Tutorials'-< these make building easier.

IF you can get a few days off in Mid August try to catch a ride to SELEM in N.C. with the guys that go every year from your area. Search YouTube to see vids from past SELEM events. Laserman121 Zack can tell you all about SELEM- LEMs are great and SELEM is the biggest and best,,, hak see you in NC..

Thanks, I have been reading a whole lot and checked out all of the links in laserbee's signature... Very good reads! I was going to buy a wicked laser until I found this forum and I'm so glad I did. I'm starting to feel comfortable about the safety and the different lasers out there because of the knowledge in LPF.

I look forward to meeting others one day and I would love to go to Salem NC LEM's. I had so many questions but didn't have to ask a one because the search is a wonderful thing indeed. I haven't gotten to Sam's laser FAQ but I will and I have already talked to 2 Vets in PM's about buying lasers and saftey equipment. And no need to worry there will be no trouble out of me..

Hi Ron,
I'm a noob here too. Just joined today, but have been lurking for a few weeks. Pretty amazing the depth and breadth of information here. It's nice to see a lot of emphasis on safety, considering the potential for danger.

BIG Texas welcome to you as well-

Ron- :tsk:you have made a classic/common mistake- :whistle:its SELEM (S. East Laser Enthausists Meet) held in Conover/Newton NC area- no where near Salem-- lol;)

so FLEM is Florida(orlando) and SCalLem is S cali- NWLEM is Portland and so on= UKLEM+ UK-- & if your are RICH__ CaribLEM-- :san::san:

WE (LPF) are the LEM party crashers they no longer hate over at the show forum where all LEMs are 'centered'- and arranged. see their Meets n Greets board-its LEM Central--anyone can host a LEM and as I always saw-"Any LEM with two or more laserheads is a good LEM":beer::beer:
