Hello from Alabama!

6watts?????????? what diode is being used?

Nichia NDB7A75. It was measured by Rick Trent's Ophir LPM. I stopped by his place on my way back from a wedding a month or two ago. I only have the Laserbee 3.7W USB, so I couldn't check that one.

I used a NDB7A75/NDB7K75 3.5W 450nm some have hit over 6w with my 4A to4.2A driver
he did come by my home and I tested it for him. I made that one for him but he is make some on his on now.

Yea, I want to build a 6 watt from scratch, but I want to wait until I can actually measure it. Still on the lookout for a decent Ophir that is in my price range. Rick, if you come across one, let me know! I found an Ophir DG-HH that goes up to 10 watts that is in my price range, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to calibrate it myself.

Welcome to the forum! Always nice to meet a fellow Alabamian! Excellent laser builds btw, those are the types of lasers I hope to one day build. And as Nute said, maybe we will cross paths one day, I live just outside Mobile.

Thanks! I've now built at least 8 or 10. All but two have been Rick Trent's modules/heatsinks. He's probably supplied about 95% of all of the laser stuff I've purchased so far. Lol. After getting the 303 laser that disappointedly wouldn't burn even the blackest match, I decided I needed to build my own. I got one of Rick Trent's small kits with a Nichia NDB7875 diode and, after a bit of trial and error and many calls to Rick(thanks so much for your patience, Rick!), I had my very first laser built. Then, stopping by Rick's and seeing one of the pocket sized lasers I built hit 2.55 watts was just awesome. I would definitely recommend one of Rick's kits if you want to build your own, but are a little overwhelmed by piecing everything together. It was a great crash course in building a laser. If either of you are ever in the Birmingham area, let me know. I have a Laserbee 3.7W USB, in case anyone needs anything LPM'd.

I'm super close to building the new NUBM44. I've got my host, heatsink, and driver ready to go. Just gotta bite the bullet and drop the cash on the diode. I have the money in my PayPal, but I need to get rid of some of the many other lasers I have before I get it.
