Hi everyone! I have been browsing through the forums for a while now and I thought that it was time to become a member. I am an Electrical Engineering student from southern California. I have a little laser experience and am gonna be starting a 6x build soon. Lasers seem like a great hobby and I am looking forward to being an active member of the community!

Welcome to the forum! This is an expensive hobby but as an electrical engineer you should be able to learn how to make your own lasers and save a whole load of money!

Thanks for the advice and the welcomes! Yeah I have been playing around with a sf-aw210 6x violet diode w/ rkcster driver but it burned out :( (only 190ma drive current and probably much less than an hour of burn time?) anyway I'm gonna go for another of those diodes or a GGW in one of ehgemus' custom hosts with a flexdrive I think. better heatsinking and lower drive current should make it last a lot longer I hope.

Welcome to the Forum! Shame about the sf-aw210 giving out so quickly. A GGW might be a little more robust. By now you've obviously found the threads about driving these diodes and seen the graphs some members have posted. You'll have a nice bluray in that host when you're done. Don't forget to post pics ...
