Greetings and salutations

Hello all, I just found this forum via things at PhotonLexicon. I'm fairly certain that many of you visit both sites, so you may or may not recognize my name. Anyway, I'm here now, so, Hi.

a bit about me:
I'm a professional touring sound tech, about to go to europe for a little three week tour to mix phantom. I tour for a living, taking the occasional house gig to slow things down. I love my job very much, and if you guys have any questions about audio i'll try to answer them as best I can.

I've been toying around with lasers since the first time I was able to get my hands on one back in '97. recently i took the step up to DPSS and started building a projector. MAN! prices add up quickly when you kit out hardcore like that.

Anyway, I started reading about diodes, and that's one of the things that brought me here, as you guys seem to have perpetual group buys going on for parts, and I love getting in on deals like that.

I won't bore you with any more details, but i'll be around so say hey if you feel like it.

welcome and since you are building a projector i highly suggest you go over to photonlexicon.com and read some info there...

they are more based around projectors and scanning, lpf is more about laser pointers!

but we can still help you plenty here!

also please tell me about your projector! what colors are you doing and what powers? have you chosen your software and scanners?

Lol. re-read the first sentence of my post. I've been on PL for a year or so. no worries, I came here for the diode end of things. I don't usually like high power pointers, though IgorT's are changing my mind the more that I look at them...

also please tell me about your projector! what colors are you doing and what powers? have you chosen your software and scanners?

right now my projector is a 100mw laserwave 473nm (kicking out 140mw cw), bouncing off a pair of dt40pros, run by an FB3.
I was touing asia last year, and got to pick up my laser in person from Bridge and Sandy. They're great people, I highly recommend laserwave to anybody looking for a dpss. I think i mentioned it on this forum somewhere, but if you order all 3 rgb lasers (for a projector) from bridge, you can ask him and he'll make them all with the same beam height so you can align easier.

my plans now are to build a dual 405nm so I can kick about 250mw of that into my projector, then add some 635/650 diodes as well.
I'll get a 532 from bridge to complete it, and then it's time to start thinking about my next projector, which will be much more insane.
(thinking about 2.5-3watt rgb, going full tilt boogey on that one so it'll be about 5 years down the road).
