Hi there!

Brand new to the laser (owner) world. Just ordered an Jetlasers PL-E 445NM. Hopefully they wake up soon over there in China so my paypal payment gets claimed and the order is dispatched

Now, I'll be digging into some threads.

While at it, should I expect any customs issues getting +700mW lasers into the country? This of course only if they figure out the content of the package. I asked Jetlasers to Phase cloak the whole device with 'recycled packaging' but wonder if this is enough :shhh:

PL- E 445nm is a great choice---way above average quality of Chinese lasers

All Jetlasers are always up to or overspec, so will be a powerful 445nm.

Good luck with it.

PS Don't forget to buy some good protective goggles to go with it, especially if you plan to use indoors-- thay are a must have--ocular damage happen too fast to prevent without goggles at the output level of either PL-E.

Which one did you get?
The focusable 1.2W-1.3W or the fixed focus 1.5W-1.7W

I got the focusable PL-E 1.2W, also ordered from Lazerer LZMN - 650nm 200mW Focusable Red Laser and LZGN - 532nm 100mW Focusable Green Laser. For protection I have for outside 2 OD+3, for inside 1 OD+4 and 1 OD+6 goggles of course all suitable for blue, red and green lasers. Can't be safe enough I would say.

Sounds like you have it covered----yes can't be safe enough especially when new to lasers and using them. A lot of things are more reflective than you imagine and light happens so fast--at the speed of light.

Nice selection---will be impressive in darkness outdoors----The PL-E will surprise you ---it is really bright/powerful when focused to finest beam/dot plus it is well made.

YOu should do a search of LPF articles on blue hazard---photochemical hazard to eye by 445nm if looked at for long period of time without giving eyes a chance to recover---green is relatively safer to view w/o goggle

*EDITED*
May be stupid question but I'm only 13 so I'm pretty low on the intelligence scale.

By your own admission "I'm pretty low on the intelligence scale." , I suggest you do a LOT more reading, and less writing.

Lasers can blind you, and those around you.

It's great to see so much enthusiasm regarding lasers. Also the positive guidance towards safe usage of lasers, wearing goggles is good. I am sure it contributes to less improper usage.
