Been lurking on this site for a few weeks now, figured it was time to register and make myself known.
Have a couple of projects planned, DIY liquid sky effect and a spirograph. Thus far I've gotten power supplies, stepper motors and controllers, and some optics together... took a look at how to extract the diode from a DVD-writer, so that'll end up being a cheap source to start with. What will probably catch someone's eye will be the enclosure I'll be using for the majority of the electronics ...a Varian Linear Accelerator control panel.
I'll post pics/parts lists/etc once I have everything together and begin construction...figure the panel will hold the controls/switches and I'll remote the scanners and lasers.
After looking the topics over, it seems folks are always looking for optics and assorted odds 'n' ends; I've been dealing with a local shop (Surplus Shed) that may be of some use to experimenters.
