Hello, the name is Jack and I have finally decided to create an account here. I mostly used this site in order to look at reviews when looking for my next laser. Years ago I Purchased my first high powered laser from WL (I'm sure you guys must've had a huge Flood but no Noah) but sadly it somehow grew legs and disappeared (I think TSA must've gotten to it. A bit stupid on my part, probably should've been smarter ). After awhile I wanted to get another one but unfortunately since my main home is in the US a new law came to be and I wasn't going to risk ordering another 1W from ML and get a message saying "we are sorry but due to Federal regulations your item has been confiscated". So I got the nova laser bundle (I heard WL was going out of business so i bought the 3 pack).

Sorry for the long rant but anyway I have always liked lasers and flashlights. Lasers have always fascinated me since ....i guess star wars lol. I have never tinkered with lasers (DIY) because I was always a bit iffy with that, but I have finally decided to take a crack at it.

Any tips once i start making my build?

Welcome to LPF, Jack! For your first build I'd recommend something below class IV, maybe one of the Osram green direct diodes.

Welcome! :D

For your first build (if starting from scratch), I'd suggest going with some cheap red diodes like you might find in DVD burners or can buy for only a few dollars a piece.

Cheap laser modules are also pretty simple and don't require mcuh electronics knowledge. Just get the polarity right and put them in a housing with battery connections.

How experienced are you with soldering, and do you have a good iron?
