I guess you must be right then. My dad (who knew someone who was on the court case) said he was told they'd used H2O2 and there was a big thing made about whether they used regular flour or chapati flour, because they'd been taught using chapati flour... idk... i'll ask him about it later, if you're still interested. Because i certainly am.

I had heard of acetone peroxide. Decided against trying to make any for a wide variety of reasons including that i read an article about some kids who were making it because they were bored and ended up in jail, and about some other kids who were making it and ended up with no hands.

Only on LPF could a discussion about glowsticks become a discussion about high-explosives.

Unfortunately there are many common chemicals that can be turned into explosives, and the internet makes it so anyone can look up a recipe for destruction.

Not majorly into explosives really. Explosions are fun, as is the potential for destruction, but actually destroying things i've ruled out.

@ JaiNobez: Well, after all, both the discussions (glowsticks and explosives) are about chemicals, so we're not 100% offtopic, i suppose

Anyway, i know enough the matter for NEVER give away clear indications about how to make them, especially on internet ..... as you've said about the kids ended with no hands (probably they have followed one of these "recipes" like "mix well x% of H2O2 and y% of acetone", or similars, with no other indispensable indications like purities, acidity and temperature control and so on ) ..... there are a lot of these "recipes" on internet, and a lot of them are wrong, incomplete, or simply posted from idiots, about this matter ..... (and i have the suspect that all the wrong ones are left on the internet intentionally, from control committees, so sometimes someone ends with no hands, and news can have a scoop, and the rest of the ones that want to try think a second time about it and don't try ..... but, ofcourse, is just a suspect )

And, actually, i'm pretty sure he lost his hands by manufacturing it successfully and then hitting it with a hammer or something. But whatever.
