whats up guys ive been a laser enthusiasts for some time now but never got into building them so with my recent build i figured it was time to join a forum with a cool community in case i need some help. im not a complete nub as i am in electrical technologies class and have moded lasers before but im nowhere near an expert. Also i want to buy a laser but it seems that its marked up an insane amount or the sale is really good or its a cheap piece of...... anyway of telling the one im looking into buying is Best Free Shipping 3000mW Kaleidoscopic Blue Laser Pointer Pen with Safety Lock+battery+glasses+charger Online with $125.0/Piece | DHgate thanks for the help im still getting used to these forum layouts sorry if this is in the wrong spot

Welcome!

Please update your profile to include location.

I wouldn't buy this laser. I doubt it is anywhere near the 3W advertised. If you're looking for a laser I would try the Buy Sell Trade section of this forum.

Don't forget your safety glasses.

Greets back atcha.

Correct section for an intros (yours is short but better than none)

wrong section for advice on buying.

Lots of members and more in Pa-

Dr Sam in Phily- wrote the laser bible-(retired ,aser prof--UPENN)
Mariomaster- gas laser expert and more
Jefftyhe00 another savvy laser geek and all around good guy.

Surplushed is in PA and they ARE open to the public but only on Sats.

Bungy is 15 min from Phily

and more- if your location shows under name you will get
more greets from others in Pa.

All the above members came to Newton NC this August for SELEM Laser Event<google that.
work towards attending in 2014. you will have no regrets..

keep an open mind

and look hard before buying whats in your link- i have not looked at it but will wager you will not be happy (long) or you will not even buy that one..

PLEASE tell us about your eye ware? what brand- how much? whats the OD and wavelength -its printed on the lens you have to look hard but its there-- not all work for evey color- members here also sell eyeware. buying a laser first and eye ware after is very foolish--
_______________________
for buying glasses and lasers..
your best buy may be used and metered and sold by a trusted vet who needs ATM $ more that that laser- DO NOT buy a laser that has not been metered-- all those I mentioned above own LPMs-One, M.M., builds them-- and no one from the forum would every ask for any $$ to meter for you. You can see whats up for sale in BS&T and also post a WTB letting the members know what you want- avoid those with bad or no rep- go with trusted Vets- read feedback-etc etc- just basically be smart-

hak

ps

Lots to read here and at Sam'S Laser FAQ- dont ask any question before trying a search first- finish your profile please- we cant give the best advice if we do not know where you live- (generally) & dont expect us to remember it from the OP.

hold on-
or turn and run away quick-

- lasers will get inside your head-- not sure why but thats a fact--

Hello fello PA'r

When I was in VO-TECH in high school I also did "Electrical Technologies" in Altoona PA

I second buying a "nice" laser off a member here. You most likely wont find better quality or wattage per $ anywhere else.

Well, that would depend on what you are looking to spend. Do you have a color preference? What applications did you have in mind? I know burning is important for alot of new members. I say if you are going to spend good money on a laser, it may as well be one you will like! Let me know and I'll see if I can find one that suits your needs or I can recommend a builder who can make it.

Also welcome to the forum! I see you are fitting in nicely ^^

IMO forget pot modding--for what you have to spend buy a nice 405 nm purple ~100mW and it will burn-spend the rest on a brand name green for beam and spot brightness-to get some of both spend it all on a 445 from a member ..+4 for adding your location-

hak

search Jetlasers Ti-B here I have two left quite unique 532 nm green Jeff has one ask him about it--ATM I can ship one for 105$ -Titanium is not used by any other company for their hosts.. The machining on these is first rate...

I like the 445nm, if you couldn't tell lol. That titanium is a good laser, at a great price. Blord has very high quality 445nm 1w for sale. If you like blue, I would definitely go with that.

Blue is more preferable could I build one for 130? I'm looking for 1W 445nm
