Am I the only lady who likes lasers???

I've been a lurker on here for quite a while, and was kind of nervous joining because I never see any other women on here. I also feel kind of lost reading some of the posts, because I'm not terribly technical. (I know, roll eyes...typical female, lol!) But I understand the basics of how lasers work.

When I was younger, especially a teenager, I wanted a laser more than anything! This was several years before laser pointers came on the scene, so I wrote to several different places that sold HeNe lasers and tried to get my longsuffering parents to spend a few hundred on one for me...to no avail. :crackup: They just thought I was weird.

Well, I finally broke down and got one on eBay last week for around $35. And yes, it works!

I've had various cheapie pointers over the years, but a real-live, honest-to-gosh gas laser is something new!

I don't expect to be terribly active on here, in part because most of my questions are answered from previous posts, and also lasers are just one of many of my interests. I'm not as nuts about them as I once was, but they're still really cool (when used with common sense and care)!

And I may just have to find that special something to buy from others on here, who knows.

Welcome to the community! To be honest I don't know of any active female member, but that certainly does not mean they aren't here! They may simply not advertise their gender, or may not be active.

Hi! I thought the same thing when I joined here. Good to know there are other gals who appreciate lasers; I'm not the only one. Laser pointers are so neat, both genders ought to like them!

Right! While I do like pointers, I think I have a preference for other types (non-diode) of lasers. But they're all interesting!
